KitchenAid Meat Grinder
One of the most popular and widely used attachments is the KitchenAid meat grinder. With concerns of e-coli and
mad cow among other things, you can now make your own hamburger patties and fresh swedish meatballs, serving your
family healthy meals that you prepare.
With both fine and course stainless steel grinding plates you can grind, raw and cooked meats, vegetables, dried
fruits, cheese and bread.
Included in the kit are the grind worm, the grinder body, cutting knife, and a fine and course grinding plates.
Also includes is a wrench to help untighten and removing the attachment.
To attach the KitchenAid meat grinder, start by loosening the attachment knob by turning it counterclockwise.
Next, remove the hub cover and insert the attachment shaft housing into the hub and make sure it fits into the
square hub socket. When the meat grinder is attached correctly, the pin on the attachment will fit into the notch
on the hub rim. Finally tighten the attachment know until it is tightly secure to the mixer.
To use the KitchenAid meat grinder you want to cut the desired meat into small pieces or narrow strips and then
feed them into the hopper. Turn the mixer to speed four and with the included food pusher feed the meat into the
hopper.
For the best taste it is recommended to grind meat twice unless the meat is very fatty. It is also best to use
partially frozen or cold meat.
To make the best bred crumbs, make sure the bread is oven dried to remove all the moisture.
There are two plates to be used with the KitchenAid meat grinder, coarse and fine. Use the coarse plate for
grinding meats (both raw and cooked), firm vegetables, cheese and dried fruits. Use the fine plate for grinding raw
meats or cooked meats for spreads and to make bread crumbs.
To clean the unit, it is best to completely disassemble the attachment. The grinder body, worm, ring and wrench
are all dishwasher safe. You can wash the knife, grinding plates and wooden stomper in warm sudsy water and then
dry thoroughly.
Like almost all KitchenAid attachments, the grinder can be used with any KitchenAid stand mixer.
Included in the KitchenAid meat grinder manual are the following recipes: smoky salsa, hot chili dip, tarragon
turkey spread, and Swedish meatballs with cream sauce.
